This is such a funny and emotional read for me, and I loved every second. Jude is a struggling art major with a less than supportive family unit and a cheating ex-boyfriend. When he drives out to the desert to do some moping while star gazing, Jude witnesses the crash of an alien spaceship...and the alien that was piloting said ship. Jude, ever the kind and helpful person, takes the alien home so he can start working on devices to help him contact his planet for a ride home. Al Leon (the human name that Jude gives him) also comes from a family where he feels less-than and was joy riding when he crashed his junker spaceship on Earth. Al is taken immediately with Jude, especially his hair, and once they touch Al knows Jude is his true mate. Al takes a human shape as a disguise, using his touch telepathy and romance book covers as a guide to what form would be most pleasing to Jude. He hits it out of the park, Jude has never seen anyone so beautiful and he can't really fight off his mounting attraction. Al learns English quickly, but not enough to head off a HUGE miscommunication about what their relationship is and the consequences of it.

The choppy English that Al speaks is so cute and hilarious. He's got very little filter and the human things that upset him are so funny. I really love the idea of a super hot dork, and Al just fits that to a tee. The side characters are also a hoot and add a lot to the story. One of my favorite parts is when Al's parents come to Earth and are truly terrible at trying to fit in with our culture. And while it is funny, there are some truly emotional parts that had me misting up. I wanted their happy ending so much and the pay off was excellent.
