The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

dark emotional informative inspiring reflective tense slow-paced

I learned so much about myself reading this. I know it’s likely more helpful for practitioners, but it provided a lot of clarity. Helped me put a name to a lot of my experiences and feelings, and understand how the brain works. Even though it doesn’t really give coping mechanisms/techniques one can implement on one’s own, just being able to name issues and know that there are ways, is so helpful.

“What Happened to You?” by Dr. Perry & Oprah is in the same vein.
