The Secret History by Donna Tartt

4.0

did not live up to the hype for me, beautiful writing, but i was feeling very neutral towards the book the entire time, it didn’t do anything to me, and the characters & relationships felt (at times) underdeveloped compared to the other intricate details of the book.

julian, for example, who is always praised and loved by everyone, remained a stranger to me (this was perhaps done on purpose). and richard’s love for camilla felt flat and uninteresting (also, perhaps, done on purpose; maybe the goal was to keep the characters always on the verge of unloveable, but it made it a tad boring for me).

NEVERTHELESS i enjoyed the book for the vibes and language!!
