Here's me begging for this book to crush my soul and rip my heart in half.

But it did not happen.

Oh good God, I think the only heartbreak that I got is because of the heartbreak that I did not get. I got teary-eyed towards the end but my tears did not exactly fall.

The things that I like

☽ This book is kinda funny.

☽ I love how vulnerable the characters are. The best thing about this book has to be its very human characters. They are a mess. They are reckless. They are passionate. Violent. Emotional. But all in all packed in a sweet wrapping.

☽ The love story is good. Everything is going well until it the mystery has been revealed. Still, I loved the build up. The tension. And all of the scenes that they had together.

☽ The history of the Mercier women. Am I the only one that is wishing to really have a physical copy of that book that Eva was going to write? I want more of that! I want to hear more crazy stories.

☽ Audre. Bless the kid. I love her.

☽ LOTS OF QUOTABLE MOMENTS.

The things that I DID NOT like

☾ The book cover. I cannot even explain how much I dislike it. It's so bold and intimidating and gave me the false impression that its all about pain and devastation. But there's so much more to this book than just that.

☾ The reason why their love story ended in the first place... I mean, it's not low but I was expecting something more tragic.

☾ It got really slow towards the end. The first few chapters were really fast-paced and I really had to keep turning pages because I want to know more about this story.

In sum:

I would definitely recommend this book if you want something emotional. Please check the trigger warnings first before diving into this story.

Would I read more stories from this author? Definitely.
