The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera

This was such a great read. I read the whole thing in one night - it was an easy read that was still incredibly intriguing and made it hard to put the book down.  While the book is definitely a sci-fi (with elements like giant spaceships and genetically modified people), it really is a message about the dangers of censorship and the importance of diversity. It reminds readers of the importance of different stories and voices. It’s also presents a surprisingly uplifting view of humanity. I thought I might be bothered by the young ages of the main characters but I think experiencing the story through the hopefulness and storytelling of a child was really touching.
