Secret of the Andes by Ann Nolan Clark

This is another Newbery award winner that shouldn't have won it in my opinion. I really had to force myself to push through it as it was just not that interesting. I kept hoping the author would improve the storyline the further I got into the book but she didn't. It is basically a book about a lonely boy who is supposedly Incan royalty. That could have been a better subject to pursue rather than the emphasis on the care of the llamas and his life of deprivation. I'll agree with other reviewers and wonder what the committee was thinking not to make Charlotte's Web the winner. If any reader wants to learn a tiny bit about the life of the Incan people than go ahead and try this out otherwise I'd pass.
