The Witches of Escazú (and Other Jewish Fairytales)
by Roots Metals
This is such a wonderful collection of Jewish fairytales that's a great read for all lovers of folklore. It's a great introduction to Jewish mysticism, history and fairytales. It has 7 short yet amazing fairytales that are beautifully illustrated with amazing lettering.
I love how Roots Metals started the introduction by explaining how many of the everyday fairytales that people know and love are actually rooted in antisemitism. It's a fact that many people are not aware of and might never know if it wasn't told to them. Most villains in fairytales are based on Jewish stereotypes, so it was refreshing to see some that are actually rooted in Jewish history and celebrate our culture.
