Emma by Jane Austen
5.0

It’s crazy how much more attention reading classics requires … but it is sooo rewarding !!!

I LOVED Emma. I have not seen any of the movie adaptations, only Clueless. It was SO fun trying to decipher which character was adapted from which.

Emma felt sooo real. Her motives and actions were frustrating, but they really endeared me to her :((
I resonated with many of her blunders and embarrassment!!! Was also very eager figure out what the plot twist would be regarding Frank Churchill. It was shocking … and idk if I feel like his letter or the last 10 pages redeemed him??? Knightley was so good in calling Emma out for being MEAN and downright ridiculous at times!!! I also HATE Mrs. Elton. Worst character, easily.

This book was SHOCKING and fun!!! I was gasping and so nervous. Jane Austen was such a pioneer for women writers. Her narrators are soo funny - I was laughing out loud.

My heart swelled at the last couple chapters. Such a sweet way of tying together the plot. No loose ends (that I observed).

I LOVE 19th century literature
