Mr. Midshipman Hornblower
by C.S. Forester
Man, I really should've brushed up on my Nautical terms before reading this. But still, it was entertaining enough, following the adventures of the unfortunately named Horatio Hornblower as he does totally acceptable 19th century navy things like: attempted suicide-by-duel, bashing an epileptic over the head because he was making too much noise, making sure his neckerchief was on straight, sliding down a rope bare-handed and being surprised to see it took most of his skin off, and, last but not least, getting seasick. Because if you get seasick, a career in the navy is an excellent idea!
But still, I love these sorts of books.
Wait, there's a TV series of these? (adds the netflix)
