definitely my least favourite of the series. i really loved the lottie/boyd subplot and i love her character growth that’s what my two stars are from. BUT
i predicted the ending from about 100 pages in and it also felt…. homophobic? gay kid gets abused by his foster father and his teacher for being effeminate so he grows up and uses that bitterness to be a serial killer ????? what an awful trope and stereotype and it honestly stings reading it as a young gay man who was treated very badly by my family for my sexuality and mannerisms. and on top of that it felt rushed and kinda shoehorned in? it would’ve made more sense if it was giles.
hopefully the next books are better because overall i adore this series, i was just very disappointed with this one
