Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

5.0

I could not put this book down. I loved the movie, and was told by a friend that it was one of her all-time favorite books so I went for it.
At the same time, I was listing to "les mis" and reading "to kill a mockingbird" and it made me realize that "Pride and Prejudice" did not have a single line or piece of conversation that didn't move the plot forward or add greatly to our understanding of the story or a character. Details are great, but Jane Austen has this amazing talent will delivering with every line what you feel should need an entire page to convey. Every line was necessary! And the dialogue and characterizations....
I will not go crazy, since this is a classic with many many reviews, but I do believe that next to "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck this is the best book I have read so far.
