Cape Storm by Rachel Caine

2.0

This series has been slowly going downhill but this one was particularly awful. I think the author wanted an excuse to go on a cruise, because that's the only reason I can see for this book mostly taking place on a cruise ship. Even with the huge threatening storm and these new "aether" ghosts, I was largely bored.

I hated all of the annoying occupants of the ship, and the big bob storyline, but the worst part was Joanne slowly going evil. It tainted her pov, making it dark and depressing. And no one knew if they could trust her, so she was left out of plans, or wasn't allowed to go fight. (or was healing from a previous fight.) Which made it even more boring and frustrating.

Lewis actually had a shining moment in this one. He's still Lewis, so he's still a jerk, but I suppose that's better than a 180 personality shift.

I like Venna. I can't help it. She's spunky and an interesting character.

I should mention David. Yep, he's still in it.

If this wasn't the penultimate book of the series I'd be tempted to end it here, but I might as well find out how it ends now.
