Likes:
  • The voice/writing style and tone
  • She’s definitely a very talented writer
  • I like her portrayal of Loki and how he’s not romanticized
  • I also like the exploration of the toxicity of their relationship
  • Her relationship with Skadi

Dislikes:
  • No chapters, it’s separated into 3 parts, that’s it
  • Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying my time with this story but I think I’m finding that I like books with higher stakes more
  • The first part has good slower pacing but the second part has really weird pacing, like her writing just completely changes

Random thoughts:
  • I think if you liked Circe you’ll like this
  • I know it’s not accurate but I can only imagine him as  Tom Hiddleston (specifically how he looks in Thor: Ragnarok)
  • I know that Norse mythology is still really popular (especially because of marvel) but it’s nice to read more than just Greek mythology especially since Greek mythology—probably because of how popular it is—isn’t as interesting.
  • Am I wrong for not liking Hel and thinking she’s a brat who treats her mother really poorly?
  • Skadi is definitely my favorite and honestly kinda the most relatable character in this story
  • There is an appendix at the end for all the characters and their mythical stories/context
  • It’s a medium paced story
