Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison

First of all that was a very interesting read. I would’ve never picked up this book, but my bestfriend suggested we buddy read this book and lo! This books ticked me off, made me process some things by staring at the wall after reading some of it, my eye twitched at it at times too.

It was a dense read in a way of there’s twists that I didn’t see coming. The social class between the characters was very much apparent. I really like that part because the way she builds on this characters by their experience and where they stand in society was very believable. You empathize with each one, even the “bad” ones. It absolutely doesn’t justify the actions that they take but you see the string of actions and choices they’ve made and you almost think like “yeah, this is what they would do in that situation.”

The twists. Oh man the twists. You thought everything was at end and she really said sike! And pull on some new thread for you to follow. So the end was wrapped like a present with a bloody bow on top. Amazing book.
