Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

4.0

This was my first introductino to Agatha Christie and Poirot and I thoroughly enjoyed both.

The main appeal of these books for me is twofold; a diverse array of characters with unpredictable motivations, and watching a highly competent detective slowly solve the mystery. The former is executed incredibly, there are plenty of conflicting interests, a cast of characters who feel like people you know and the story keeps throwing new excitement developments your way. Poirot himself is a fascinating character, it is thoroughly enjoyable to hear him interview and piece the mystery together; even more so because you can follow along yourself.

As an introduction to Agatha Christie and murder mystery novels as a whole, it was an incredible experience. There will be a lot more Poirot books in my future.
