Protective Instinct
by Tricia Lynne
What an amazing and inspiring story.
Brody is close to retirement. There are only two football seasons left till retirement. He really needs to keep his head down. Especially since after the hotel suite incident has him skating on thin ice. His whole career rides on him not misbehaving and not meeting girls!
Lily’s relationship with her stepfather is strained. He keeps trying to convince her to give up her career as a dog trainer to work as a physical therapist for the football team. Lily does not trust her stepfather and feels that there are ulterior motives behind his actions.
Lily and Brody partner up to find the puppy mill that is responsible for the hurt and dead pups found in a certain area, including Brody’s rescue. As they seem to be getting closer to finding it, the danger closes in and someone starts to threaten Lily.
Can Lily and Brody save the dogs before someone takes their lives?
I truly enjoyed this book. It hits close to home and really affects my heart, as I am a dog lover. It has some triggers that are hard to stomach, with the abuse the pups endure. Makes me want to be there to help take down the enemy. The book is so relatable that you can imagine yourself there with the characters.
Overall this book was truly inspiring and wonderful. The characters are beautiful, strong and heroic. Body and Lily have loads of chemistry, yet they each have their own set of issues that make their journey a tough one. They each struggle with trust issues and a horrible past. The journey may be hard but it is very beautiful and awe inspiring.
The author did an excellent job of portraying her character and laying out their roles. She created a story about real life problems. Her story will draw in her readers and hold them tight till the very end. Giving them an ending that was just perfect. I can’t wait to read more.
