This was so slow. The whole book was an establishing shot for the rest of the series. As soon as you get invested in one character’s storyline, you’re diverted to another POV and feel totally out of place (between Celaena, Dorian, Chaol, Manon, Aedion, Sorscha, and Rowan, that’s at least 7!). The ending was a really good tie in to the next books and I’m definitely keen to keep reading the series, but only if things pick up a little please!! As always, I enjoy Mass’ explorations of trauma and recovery, and some of the new character additions in this book were really delightful.
