The Santiago Trilogy by Catherine Wiltcher

4.0

3,5 stars. The Santiago trilogy starts with Dante Santiago kidnapping Eve Miller one night because he fell in lust one night over her whilst on a job to kill her father. And yeah, with that premise, the romance is as cliché as they come; I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes. I don't think there's a moment I didn't cringe when Dante and Eve call each other 'mi alma', 'my angel' and 'my devil'. Eve is portrayed as a strong character but the ones that makes stupid decisions to drive the plot forward. Dante is the typical ruthless alphahole.

All the rant about the romance aside, this is a wild ride. The plot about the brother's feud in the first book, the hunt for the human trafficking ring, the double crossing betrayals between partners; that's what give this book life. If the romance plot, especially the dialogues and interactions between Eve and Dante, was done better, I think this would make an amazing five star read. All in all, still a great read.
