Heaven by Mieko Kawakami

4.0

“Because we’re always in pain, we know exactly what it means to hurt somebody else.”

Heaven hurts, it is impactful.
Japanese literature is really good, it impacts emotions so much.
It is a good book, genuinely - but it is also hard to read, not because of the writing style but the story being hard to swallow. It's so raw, heartbreaking but sadly so real to what really happens to many persons.
To be fully honest, i don't really know what to say about it - speechless.
- CW for violence, harm to children, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, self-harm.
