Thief of the Heights by Robin Yao, Son M
4.0
This book is majorly carried by its artstyle. It's almost anime-esque, and the coloring is immaculate. I also like the characters and how they interacted with each other. The worldbuilding is also incredible; I really like how much detail is given to the structure of Muqadas.
However, the plot is kind of just "vibe and build prosthetics" for the first half, then careens into half a dozen plotlines for the second half. It feels way too messy and disorganized. Either it should've been split in 2, or better paced.
In the end, the journeys and struggles of these 3 characters work just enough to make me like it in the end.
