A Little Bit Worried
by Ciara Gavin
Otherwise known as Weasel Is Worried, this book follows a certain adorable critter as he faces a terrifying storm. He comes up with a brilliant plan to build a protective fort, but now that he is safe inside, will Weasel ever feel confident enough to try going out again?
Being and feeling safe are sometimes very different things. Sometimes kids need a bit of a push to realize that they are safe even if they don't feel like it. I appreciate that Weasel is clever and practical, but his worry simply sticks around when it isn't needed. This happens to the best of us, and sometimes we need a good friend to help remind us that living inside a comfort zone is a small way to live.
This book offers some excellent coping strategies for kids who worry a bit more than they need to but reminds us all that a bit of patience and compassion can go a long way. It also never hurts to try to see things from a different perspective.
