Who Says Women Can't Be Doctors?: The Story of Elizabeth Blackwell
by Tanya Lee Stone
Biography of Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman medical doctor in the US. I wish there would’ve been a little more information about her time as a student and beyond. I also didn’t like that they called the medical students “boys” and “girl” rather than “men” and “woman”. I just can’t think of a good reason for that choice and felt it could make it confusing to children. Kids this age live school, they might not realize that adults sometimes go to school as well. I did really like the final message and illustration of women doctors through time.
