Ruin by Laurelin Paige
5.0
The anticipation leading up to this book's release had me on the edge of my seat. After the crazy ending of Rivalry (the second installment in Slay Quartet). I have been at his author mercy as I waited for book two and let me tell you now, the wait was worth it, but I didn't doubt that for a second.
Book two throws us right back into Edward and Celia's story.
Edward is just as intense, arrogant, and manipulative as he was in book one. If not more and I freaking loved that about him. When he married Celia, he never expected what he got. But he was on a mission to uncover everything there is to know about this woman. He wants her to submit fully to him. The thing is.. there is no secret that he wants her... But there are feelings starting to surface that he never expected, and that unsettles him. But there is a need inside him that is driving him to need to know everything single thing there is about this woman and he's prepared to do what it takes to get inside that head of hers, take over her mind, take over every inch of her body and completely consumes this woman. Did I mention how much I love this man? I have no idea why, but I do and he is everything and more that I love about an alpha asshole hero. Ms. Paige never disappoints when it comes to her alpha male leads and Edward was sex on a stick!
Celia is the type that craves approval, craves positive attention and seeks it. Not exactly an attention seeker, but she has been neglected of most positive attention all her life, so when Edward starts to put time and effort into her, she can't help but be a little stand-offish. It's not something she is used to but it's secretly something she desires more than anything. To have that acceptance and approval. But something is holding her back, and she fears that if her secret comes out, she will never be looked at the way again. She fears judgment, to the point that she thinks if her secret does come to light that she won't able to handle the judgment that comes along with it. But the thing about Edward is that when he wants something, he gets it and he won't accept anything less and what he wants from Celia is her honesty and to be able to control her using it.
This two... God, I wanted to scream... Like I said above, I am not sure what it is about Edward but I am in love with that arrogant asshole. Everything about him had me putty in his hands. These two together though. I could feel the sexual tension between them. It only thickened as the book progressed. But will Celia trust Edward enough to open up? And if she does, will her secret be a deal-breaker? Should she trust him? And will he finally accept the fact that this woman has gotten under his skin and actually has fallen for the woman he married?
This was everything. Laurelin Paige has been a favorite of mine for some time and with every book I read, I fall even more in love with her words. She writes the best domineering assholes you love to hate and love to love.
It was capitating, all-consuming, addictive, and downright hot! I honestly couldn't get enough. The more of Laurelin's words I read, the more I fall in love with them!
6/5 Stars!
