Paper Girls, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

4.0

There is an Amazon show based on this that just came out. I finished it and really enjoyed it for the most part (though it does take an episode or two to really get going). I knew that I definitely wanted to read the source material, so here we are. This volume seems to cover where the first episode of the show starts and ends; however, there is *a lot* that happens and is revealed in this volume that does NOT happen in the show (at least in the first season).

Overall, I really liked this volume. The art is so well-done, and I really liked the story, especially having seen the TV adaptation. I am curious to see how other aspects featured in the show will pop up in the GN, or if they ended up changing some things for the screen.

I will say, I'm not sure if I would've enjoyed this volume as much without having seen the show, because like I said, there is a lot that goes on with very little context, so having some knowledge of it actually helped.

But I will definitely keep reading it. Originally I was going to stop where the show ended, but I think I might just power through it depending on how the other volumes go. Overall, I would definitely recommend Paper Girls, especially if you like time travel or nostalgia!
