The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud
5.0
I'm always looking for a new fantasy series and let me tell you, this did the job and then some. Stroud hooks you in the very beginning and doesn't let you go until the very end. The story starts off introducing you to two very different characters; a witty, quick on his feet djinni, and a young boy who has a heart as cold as stone. You go on a ride with twists and turns with each chapter leaving you wanting more. Of course this book has the normal save the world conflict, but the world isn't normally saved by people(or djinni in this case) who are so different. They each face their own problems but have one common conflict. Anyone who enjoys a fantasy novel that involves magic will love this book because of the new spin on magic the author takes. Next time you need a new book summon this one off the shelf and be prepared for a wild ride that will leave you breathless.
