Oh, wow. This duology really knows how to put me through the ringer. We are given more backstories on Wylan and Jesper which is great as I felt like Wylan received the least attention in the Six of Crows. Nina's addiction to Parem is further fleshed out as well as the powers of the Grisha.
I think the choice to keep the threats localized in Ketterdam made it all the more entertaining and personal as the people coming to get the crew had ties to them outside of the main conflict at hand. It was beautifully done and even with the open ending I don't feel like any strings were left undone.
