Ruling Sikthand
by Victoria Aveline
Ladies, and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and everyone else, I LOVE THIS SERIES. This is for sure my favorite book so far. (Sorry Fejo) Sikthand and Sophia's story is everything I love about sci-fi and romance. Sophia is held captive in this goth heavy metal nation called Vrulatica. (What a great name for a heavy metal band.) Political unrest and the future of an alien race are on the line, leading King Sikthand to keep her as leverage. Sophia loves tattoos, LARPing, and design. She is a little goth at heart and loves the vibes of this metal-mining and storm-flying nation that produces tough-as-nails people. She is a lovely heroine who works hard to be brave, learn how to survive, and make tough choices. Sikthand is a broken hero who has lost everyone he loves due to betrayal and murder so he does not trust anyone. Their journey was tough and I loved EVERY FREAKIN MINUTE. Guys, he has a tail. A TAIL...and I was very ok with it. It wasn't weird. This story had the best slow-burn and I just savored this story.
I listened to the audiobook primarily for this series to take it slow as this is the last one out at this time for this series. Stephen Dexter is now one of my favorite narrators and all of his character voices-both male and female- are perfect. I don't know how to move on from here. I heard Rhaego's story is coming but I want more Sikthand. I NEED MORE SIKTHAND VICTORIA AVELINE. HEAR MY CALL! *weeps goth tears*
