Watermelon by Marian Keyes
3.0

I can hardly slate this book as I read it specifically seeking the least offensive light holiday relief reading possible. I adore Marian Keyes so who am I to deny her an evolving writing process? That it apparently began far too chronologically near the era of Bridget Jones's Diary is not actually a crime. (I'm such a snob.) Not sure if BJ had so many laborious digressions in the midst of vital plot action, but hey, I'd doubtless be as guilty as the next novice novelist to do such things and oh yeah, where's the novel I've written?

Until recently, however, I still thought the 90s were great. This novel reminds me that they were clearly of the last century in big ways. But I am looking forward to reading more easy, diverting, hopefully increasingly less offensive bits of fiction. And continuing to respect Marian Keyes down to the ground.
