The combining of the past and present narratives is a little clunky, though at least it's consistently clunky. This book does do a decent job of slowly revealing the ugly secret of Home and revealing who killed who.
The way all the characters were interconnected was also a nice touch - it made things more claustrophobic, especially towards the end.
The way that only the 'innocent' escaped unscathed did feel a bit too clean - as if the authors didn't want to make them too grey outside of what they did on the island.
A meh three stars.
