I enjoyed the story and the one thing I really have been liking about Brigid Kemmerer's curse breaker series so far is the feminist take on her stories and the spotlight on heroines who are not glamorous or some sort of prodigies. In the first book, I really liked Harper's character and now in the second one, I enjoyed reading about Lia Mara too. I cant say more without spoiling the second book though.

I guess the focus of this series is more about fighting your own demons and finding the strength in yourself and believing in your strengths, as all the four characters have shown so far. If you're looking for major magic systems or detailed world building and some crazy twists or plot points, then maybe this isn't the series for you. At least that's how Ive felt so far.

The book could've been shorter for sure. I had predicted the way it would end about half way through and found quite a bit of the second half to be very boring.

Im not sure how the book will end - as in, what else is there to be revealed now? Yes, there is a common villain, but maybe the final book will focus on bringing all the characters together? I'll have to read it to find out :)
