Bad Boys Break Hearts
by Micalea Smeltzer
Not a real bad boy, just self absorbed
This book was okay but I didn’t enjoy how mean Macen was for no real reason. He was mad at his eight year old BF for moving, he’s mad his dad is a famous musician, he just felt self-centered and self-absorbed. His actions with Cole and his dad shows a person who doesn’t really do self reflection. He never really took into account nor took accountability of the pain he inflicted on others. He never tried to see things from their perspective.
Aurora “Rory” went through a lot to get to college and he never really asked her about it until much later. I didn’t mind that her self esteem wasn’t as strong because I felt that she was still growing and healing from her traumas. I liked her and connected with her.
I didn’t feel real chemistry with Rory and Macen. I think they felt familiar because of their past. They fell back to a relationship because they knew each other when life wasn’t so complicated. They didn’t know each other now and didn’t really move me as a couple. I do plan to read book 2 because Cole made a huge impression on me. I would have loved to see Cole and Kenna get together.
