Huh. I remember being sort of iffy on this series when I was reading through it a year or two ago, but this was actually pretty good. One of the twists was a bit painfully obvious, but the central mystery was properly mysterious and the book ended in a surprisingly satisfying way.

Sebastian's determination to find out who murdered a man who he saw as someone he could have ended up as gave him a little more substance than I remember him having, and I was pleased to see that motherhood didn't mean that Hero couldn't still participate in mystery-solving. All in all, I liked the book better than I expected to.
