“Everything was a tempest in grey and steely blue, the line of the horizon merely a suggestion.”

I’m so proud of myself, I read my first Jenny Colgan book, and it was so much fun!

Now, I’m not going to lie; I’ve had this book on my shelf for too long, and I was looking for something holiday-themed, so I picked it up and started reading/listening. Only after I finished the book did I discover that it is the fourth book in the series 🤦🏽‍♀️ But, don’t worry, I never felt like I missed out on something as Colgan did a terrific job of keeping the reader informed of any back stories that pertained to the current book.

There were multiple characters to get used to, and perhaps reading the previous three books would’ve enlightened me some, but I was caught up with who was who after 50 or so pages. They were all quirky, fun, and lovable (even the grumpy ones).

🥰 Predictable but fun storyline
😵‍💫 Lots of characters to keep track of
🎧 Exceptional audiobook narrator
👩🏽‍🍳 Loved the scenes set in the kitchen
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The small Scottish Island was the perfect setting
🎄 Wasn’t over the top with holiday-themed plot

If you’re looking for a fun, predictable, Hallmark-style story to get you in the holiday spirit, I recommend reading Christmas at the Island Hotel.
