Rachel has a sometimes unhealthy attachment to her friend and roommate James and changes her choices and preferences to meet his approval. When his romantic affair alters her life, she has to face the consequences. Rachel is a self-conscious millennial trying to find a job, love and purpose in an economic downturn, and she projects her fears and desires onto others. Told by her older more mature self, the narrative is reflective.
