It's a 3 for me. I wanted to enjoy it, because the elements of stories I like were all present. I even loved how it starts with him just coming in all relaxed through her sliding door when running from the police. (Especially as someone who jokes that's the only way I'd meet a guy, lmao). Also, I love a man who pays for anything he takes...
The issue was that I am not a huge virgin trope person, and maybe it was the 13-year age gap plus Nero licking her virgin blood off his **** when he realizes he's her first that made me hit the brakes a bit. He also frustrated me with melting down her stepdad's (who planned to sell her virginity) ring to make a tracking necklace for her and then didn't tell her because he was worried it would bother her. And that then bugged me.
I did love King, though! I stuck it out because I want to read the other books in the series. I don't think this one was for me.
Also who takes a nap when you're running away? Like at least make it out of town a little bit, THEN nap in your car!
