Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh
2.0
I honestly considered not finishing the book. The first half was boring to tears. Lots of Elena and Raphael being "sensual" aka sexual and talking and thinking and talking and blah and I was bored out of my mind.
Luckily the book picked upeventually and the mystery was introduced saving the book from a 1 star rating –that and Illium. I won’t be continuing with this series, I don’t like how some things are over the top, like how much eyes talk (from one look, Elena knew what somebody wanted to do to her –throwing her out of the window + plus lots of details. Like why not simply stab you?! Please give me an eye reading lesson).
What’s up with chapters almost finishing in mid-sentence?! It never happened but it was damn close! The chapter literally finishes in the middle of a scene often enough and the new chapter resumes the same scene from where it was cut off. AND SAME POV, most of the time. It’s stupid and does nothing to the story but make it worse. That’s not unheard of and I didn’t mind it before but here it was too frequent and unnatural.
I skipped Elena and Raphael scenes because I had enough already. The first book was a lot better. Not sure what went wrong here.
I’m glad Elena is in very bad angelic shape and needs to train a lot and she doesn’t magically have all the power naturally. YET, I did not need to read about those training. The only fun thing was the last 20%.
If you loved the first book, you might love this one too. If you didn’t or was “meh” about it, don’t even bother with this book. Won’t be any good.
