Reawakening: A Collection of Short Stories in The Seer of York Universe by Alethea Lyons

Set in an alternate York that's as much of a main character as its ragtag team of witches, demon hunters and occult fighters of all stripes (and, my personal favorite, Zero the cat), Lyons's Reawakening is a gorgeously gothic tapestry of tales. At times both endearingly funny and hair-raisingly dark, this short story collection works as a great stepping stone for the next book in the series. Just don't disturb the faery circle while you're at it.
