The Turnip Princess and Other Newly Discovered Fairy Tales by Franz Xaver von Schönwerth
5.0
I am so glad I heard about this collection of newly discovered fairy tales! They were so much fun to read! They haven't been embellished or edited, so they are almost word for word how mothers would recite them to their children. Because of this, they are somewhat random, but this only adds to the charm.
I loved how short they were - just about 1 to 3 pages a piece. This meant that I could read one or two tales when I had just a couple of minutes here and there.
In some of the tales you could see similarities to the fairy tales we are all familiar with, like Cinderella, Rapunzel, etc. But they were just different enough to make them interesting.
I plan on purchasing a copy of this collection and perusing it from time to time. They made me laugh!
