This was really good! I don't really know how to describe this book, it wasn't a horror story but did partially take place in an interesting spin on hell. It was part family drama/suspense as the story unfolds, told with surprising humour, kindness, and ending with a well rounded feeling of hopefulness. There were definitely a few parts that were a little distasteful to me, but hey, it's a book about hell and the damned.
