The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer
5.0

Honestly, surprised to see how anyone couldn’t like this book. I mean I realize everyone pokes fun at Twilight but come on, this is a whole new realm.

I read Twilight, and yes I loved it. But I was in seventh grade. Can’t promise if I had read it for the first time now, I would still love it. They aren’t written great but it’s a fun twisted romantic story for a teen to enjoy.

I read the Host a little later in life and loved it. I also can’t promise if I read it for the first now I would have felt the same. I was still a teen.

This book however, I’m reading as a full blown adult, with many more “adult fiction” books under my belt. I had no expectations going in, knowing that Meyer is kind of a joke in the literary community (although why I’m not sure, she did manage to create an empire comprised of multiple books, movies, and merch). From the first few pages I was hooked.

This book is a page turner. I could not stop reading, could not wait to figure out what was going to happen. I was so intrigued and impressed by the level of thought out in, the story is so complex. The way Juliana has to think about every little thing, it’s very entertaining. I couldn’t even discern the book was written by the same woman who wrote Twilight, it’s so well written. Five stars all the way, I haven’t read a book this exciting and fun for a while.

Yes certain things were predictable, I saw the romance coming from very far a way. I don’t care though. I’ve only read a few books in my lifetime that caught me off guard, and there are some cool twists that I didn’t see coming. No it’s not a work of literary genius, but since when did every book have to be on its way to becoming a classic?

This is a fun, exciting, twisty, action packed with a touch of romance book. If you want something to be sucked into this is your jam. I enjoyed all the characters. I literally have nothing bad to say about it.
