i loved the mix of crime book, war story, character study & whatever else this book was! the crime plots had my adrenaline pumping at times, billy's autobiography got me tearing up & him and alice's friendship made me smile. i liked billy and felt for him, even though many of his actions were questionable. it made me think about morals - mine, his, and in general. the only thing i didn't love was the detailed descriptions of his time in iraq - while relevant to billy's story, i don't much care for war stories
