The Cuckoo's Calling
by Robert Galbraith
For those who don't know, this book is written by J. K. Rowling but published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
With that being said, I'm really conflicted, I hate JK because she's a TERF but damn this was such a good book!
It took a while for me to get into, not because of the book but my own depression. Once I got about a third into the book I was obsessed and could not put it down.
It's such an easy read, with a well thought out plot that gives you enough clues to make you feel like you know what's going on, but also keeps you guessing. Strike, the main character, is so easy to get behind, and he's a bit of an antihero.
I do think that JK tried really hard to move away from the Harry Potter series which overall is pretty innocent. In this book most of the main characters smoke and there's drugs sex ect. It's not out of character but looking at it over all you can see she's trying hard to move away from a children's book author.
I guess you can hate the author but love the work.
