Inheritance
by Nora Roberts
This is my first Nora Roberts book, and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. I stumbled upon this series while scroll through Libby. If I can’t find something available from my TBR, I will start on the “most popular” page and scroll until I find something that piques my interest. Honestly, when I saw the cover of this book, I was thinking a Sleeping Beauty retelling, but it was SO much better than that.
The story starts with a peek into the past, then jumps right in with the FMC, Sonya, discovering her fiancé was cheating on her with her COUSIN. In a hallmark-esq, troupe, Sonya discovers that she had a long-lost uncle who had gifted her the family mansion and she is required to live in it for 3 years to receive her inheritance. What nobody bothers to tell her is that the house is EXTREMELY haunted, but not always in a scary way.
The ending of this book left me desperate for more. If you know me well, you know that my go to is to search on Libby, then hoopla, then use a Libro FM credit if I have to. And this time I had to. The cliff hanger that this book left me on immediately forced me to go searching & when I discovered that there was was 13 week wait at minimum, I had to do what I had to do.
But in all seriousness, this book has a little bit of everything. A little bit of mystery and intrigue, a little bit of dark-academia vibes without being in a school, a small town, two hunky love interests (for two women), cute furry companions, a strong independent main character, and some crazy rich & long lost family members.
