Captain America: Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker

5.0

Definitely one the best Marvel books I have EVER READ. Just finished it again (for what, the 3rd time? 4th?) and it does not fail to blow me away like the first time. Such a richly-layered storyline and a surprise plot that comes out of nowhere to punch you right in your "I Thought I Knew Everything About Comics" button.
Brubaker's writing and Epting's pencils have never looked better. Full credit is due to the artistic additions of John Paul Leon and Michael Lark, whose work does not seem out of place at all, which is what you expect from a great collection. Brubaker writes Steve Rogers and rewrites his history with all the panache and sly misdirection of an author who's had this planned years in advance.
Very rarely will you read a 14-issue (well, 13 technically) story that has no sub-par moments whatsoever.
My #1 regular series trade of all-time.
