Broken Things
by Lauren Oliver
When Mia, Brynn, and Summer were in middle school. They were inseparable and loved to visit Lovelorn, a place they made in the woods based on Summer’s favorite novel. Even though their all friends, Mia and Brynn are always a little afraid of Summer. They never know what she’s thinking and they are becoming scared of Lovelorn. When summer’s bossy is discovered, Mia and Brynn are accused of murder. Is it a witch hunt, are they framed, or did The shadow from Lovelorn take summer?
I’ve never read a Lauren Oliver book and it didn’t disappoint. The writing is beautiful and makes me want to keep reading. The beginning and middle were very exciting when we see how Mia and Brynn reunite after five years and decide to see if they can figure out who murdered Summer. The end was eh. I did read a review from someone else that they figured out the murdered in the beginning, which wasn’t the case for me. This was a different idea for a YA I’ve read and I’m glad I took the time to read it.
