Absolutely loved this book and plan to possibly include it in my children’s literature course in the future. It’s my second read by Alex Gino ( also love “Melissa ). It was refreshing to read a story based on a true historical figure told through the eyes of two youths whom identify as non-binary. Gino writes, “Blood may be thicker than water, but shared community and experience are thicker than both.” In their Author’s Note, they write “I hope this book helps show that queer and trans people are everywhere, come from everywhere, and have always been everywhere.” Fantastic read!
