Melanie Harlow (Cloverleigh Farms, #4)
"How do you know you're in love with her?"
“Because when I think about her, my heart races. Because when she’s in the room, I can hardly breathe. Because I want to be with her all the time. Because I want to do things for her that make her smile. Because when she’s happy, I’m happy. Because she’s the first person in my head when I wake up, the last person I think about before I fall asleep, and the only person in the world who makes me feel like I’m the person I want to be.”
Newly divorced single mother Sylvia Sawyer moves back to her hometown, Cloverleigh Farms, and kicks off a friendship with also freshly divorced Henry DeSantis, when she takes up a job working with him.
Okay listen, I know that was a super long quote but I would honestly make it my entire review if I could because the way Henry loves Sylvia is the way all women should strive to be loved and I will die on this hill.
This was a really cute single mom romance with a lot of domestic, sweet scenes that tug at your heart. Individually, it's really hard not to love both characters because they're wonderful. Sylvia is a mother just trying to do the absolute best for her kids, while Henry is an honest, steadfast man who just wants to take care of Sylvia the way she takes care of everyone around her.
Their relationship was so cute and I loved it. Steamy scenes (we're talking role play here, people) that had my eyes widening at times. Even though there was some slightly predictable third act drama, I liked that the conflict wasn't between the couple, but rather, something external that they worked through.
The star of the show for me was honestly Henry, because I loved seeing how willing he was to fight for Sylvia and their family. He had some amazing moments where he showed just how much he cared and just how much he was willing to conquer the world for her.
I wish we got to see their relationship develop over a longer period of time, because the whole story happens pretty quick, but you can still feel their connection. But, I love the small town vibes of this entire series because it is so cute and feel-good!
