The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë

medium-paced

5.0

i finished reading it a couple of days ago and what an absolute pleasure to read it!!!

it starts with a certain helen graham moving into the wildfell hall and how it leads to the gossip and speculation about her...the story pulls you in right from the first chapter and it's pretty fun until it's not. it's pure drama, chaos, anguish and hullabaloo rolled into a story that deserves more hype.
the pace slacks in halfway through and the story literally makes you pull your hair in frustration but the ending makes it all worth the effort so hang in there.
helen graham is one of the best female characters ever written and so ahead of her time... i love love her so much <3 and
i also loved how gilbert is so considerate and patient with helen after the rejection (darcy walked so gilbert could run)

the book is mostly plot centric so i won't spoil it by saying much, except that i would really recommend this underrated gem from anne brontë.

and how i wish anne brontë had lived longer and wrote more books for us to read......sigh what a loss to the literary world.
