The writing was incredible. The story is heart wrenching and poetic and devastating; while it is fiction, the author mentions in the acknowledgments that a lot of the story was pulled from experience as a Kuwaiti born Palestinian, conversations with people harmed by resisting the Israeli occupation and settler colonialism, and family in Kuwait who lived through the Iraqi occupation and US invasion.
