Brittany Newell’s Soft Core is a darkly humorous, intense journey through power, fantasy, and heartbreak. It delves into a woman’s unraveling as she looks for love, friendship, and revenge. Ruth finds herself in a tumultuous world after starting to dance at a strip club, embarking on a quest when her ex-boyfriend Dino disappears. Along the way, she encounters various intriguing characters and experiences. While I appreciate the well written journey of self-discovery, the book left me wanting more closure on certain plot points. I would have preferred fewer loose ends and a more satisfying resolution —such as Dino’s fate and the fates of Sophia and Nobody. So many unanswered questions!
